60 Minutes: Haliburton, POW North Korea

Did anyone see the 60 minutes special on the North Korea POW and the Investigation into Halliburton?

60 Minutes had a really good show. The one depressing story was about the 50 billion dollars the taxpayers were over charged by Halliburton in Iraq and the millions that are missing and nobody knows where it is and the other war profiteers who are making millions off the war (maybe it was a re-run but still had stuff I didn't know).

They also had a very interesting story about this guy who has been a prisoner of war in North Korea for the last 40 years. He was a soldier and when he was stationed in South Korea near the border he decided to walk over to the over side and join them..(not sure why?)..boy, did he make a mistake....they kept him there for 40 years when he finally got out and back to the US he had to turn himself in to the army for treason. The most touching part of the story was when he finally went back to North Carolina his home, and saw his 91 yr. old mother for the first time in over 40 years.....it was very moving....she said to him, as they were hugging...and crying...."I didn't think you would ever get here". I can't imagine how much anguish the mother had been thru worrying about him all those years.

Watched it this morning. Wow! The soldier defecting to North Korea
was a very interesting story. I had seen the story about the well paid idiots before. Mis-management of funds has been rampant under this administration. No fiscal responsibility, no adherence to real intelligence reports, no  service to the citizens of this country (unless you are in the top 3% of income). This admin has been a complete disaster. Except to the loyal blind lap dogs that still think he is a good man doing a good
job. These people I guess never read, or pay attention the the reality unfolding outside their own front doors.

I finally got to see it and yes, it was a re-run...barely touching on
Halliburton, just talking about the goofball little guys (a mere 50
million? peanuts.) who didn't have enough connections to avoid being
made an example.  As if that would scare Halliburton.  Gary kept saying
"we've seen this before" and when I saw that it didn't go into the big
guys I realized I had too.  But still.  At least somebody talked about
the corruption of the contractors on national TV.  And as you can see,
it has made a huge difference in the months since the program first
aired.  Hah!

Hey, Countdown had John Dean on tonight pushing his new book...he talked
a lot about personality studies that show the conservative personality
type is largely authoritarian, being either the authority or the person
who blindly follows authority but in any case being a person who
believes in authority not democracy.  Big duh, but still, it was pretty
interesting.
