Christians or Hypocrisy? Some Religious Extremists seem to be major nut cases making the good Christians look bad.

I feel too many Christians only follow Christ's principles when it is convenient and easy. When it gets difficult and they can't face their weak impulses they jump back into the old testament where it is completely okay to act judgmental and believe in the killing.

Being Christlike is more difficult and most people never come close.

But hey - I'm a heathen - what do I know?
I would much rather behave Christ like than worship him.
I don't worship anything or anybody. cause I am god - Alive in this body - alive in this consciousness. a unique facet.

Blasphemous maybe. But I don't think the energy and intelligence behind -all that is- can be that easily offended.

Really sad. It amazes me that Christians do not see the hypocrisy in themselves. How can anyone who follows Christ teachings behave this way?

This guy has courage and the conviction to follow his principles. Why do so many hateful people have to determine the frameworks of our culture?

He’d be welcome here in California.

That reminds me of one of my favorite “just desserts” stories from history: in the years leading up to the second world war, Germany made it clear that “Jewish intellectuals” weren’t welcome. The list of undesirables included some of the country’s greatest physicist – Albert Einstein, Eugene Wigner, Hans Bethe, Leo Szilard, Niels Bohr – all of whom were promptly taken in by the U.S. and England and began creating the allied atomic bomb program. The remaining good, Aryan physicists still in Germany couldn’t quite pull the Nazi A-bomb program together, and the rest is history.

Last I knew, Oklahoma, like much of middle America, was suffering from an economic depression. They certainly wouldn’t want those nasty gays – with their disproportionately larger disposable incomes (they don’t create children that have to be fed, clothed and put through college) hanging around, spending their filthy money.

Real Life Christians or Hypocrisy?

This article was on the "Opinion" page of the Oklahoma City Sunday paper today:

Oklahoma spoke loud and clear. More than 75 percent of you voted to ban gay marriage. As a Sonner-born, Sooner-bred, gay Oklahoman, I get the message. I'm not welcome here, even though I was born here and my family has lived here since statehood. Even though I'm an alumnus of the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics - one of Oklahoma's "best and brightest" and have undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Oklahoma. Even though I've spent my entire adult professional career as a public servant in the field of child abuse and neglect, I'm not welcome here.

I've been ambivalent about staying in Oklahoma for many years. Consider this my declaration of independence. I am moving somewhere where my opinion matters and I am valued. Thank you, Oklahoma voters, for helping make this decision easy.

N. Willsey, Norman, OK

This is just one of countless gay people who have had to leave this state in order to feel more welcome in the human race. How sad is that?
