Where does Walmart stand versus Costco

The Seattle Times came out with an article recently that said the mass-retailer Costco, which competes directly with Wal-Mart's Sam's Club warehouse chain, has emerged as the "high-road model". Meaning better morally, environment friendlier, and health care, and better in business?

While Wal-Mart fights aggressively to stop any union organizing whatever, Costco has agreements with the Teamsters for 16 percent of its employees and has extended most of the benefits to its entire work force. A Business Week report shows Costco's average hourly wage is around $15.97, far above the Wal-Mart (Sam's Club) $11.52 figure (this is excluding the 25% of Wal-Mart workers who are low-paid part-timers- OUCH!).

You guys support unions, so you have to support crap articles like this.  Which are packed with lies.  A typical union message; when it comes to Wal Mart.  I am damn glad that NW Arkansas is getting some of the big box money that is taking over the world.  You may also notice that you cannot compare Wal-Mart to CostCo it is Sam's Club that competes with CostCo.

You are the one that seems to be afraid of facts and continue to perpetuate the lies on this one.
Your defense of Wal-Mart always stems from your consumer love affair and not the hard reality
that Wal-Mart has imposed on the public good.

Costco pays its employees an average of 65% higher wages. And they do not put the strain on taxpayers that Wal-Mart does in food stamp programs and health care avoidance. Wal-Mart is so damn irresponsible and getting away with it cause the average consumer ONLY CARES ABOUT COST. There are other things in this world besides saving money. There is quality of life.

Why is this so hard to understand? Get up off you lazy butts and minds and help promote a healthy economic model instead of perpetuating the same old ME-MINE- and Screw the other guy mentality that has made this country so gross. I mean really. How can you ignore so much?

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY does not make the world go around.

Have you guys seen the report on at the Grocery Advantage site where they compare Wal-Mart to Kroger.  "Don't Waste Your Money:  Kroger vs. Wal-Mart" is the name of the article.  In summary, if you shop the sales and use coupons, you save about 17 to 20 per cent more at a normal grocery store than you would at Wal-Mart.
