Pollyanna: A person regarded as being foolishly or blindly optimistic.

A non-violent approach requires a discipline, wisdom and a awareness of others that the majority of the planet does not possess. It is quite easy and even applauded to take action against ones enemy through violent means.

But to evolve to an alternative that requires reflection of personal emotions, deep study of historical implications and the ability to predict future consequences is the key to our finding peace.

Pollyanna is a derogatory word used by members of our society to deflect responsibility and to weaken the resolve of those who know there is a more right approach to injustice and violence.

I am very exhausted by those right wing talk show hosts that say the Blame America First Crowd is causing the problems and weakening our strength as a nation.

What is weakening our nation is the massive apathy and lack of strength of it's citizens, to hold its government responsible for past actions and decisions.

To only point fingers at terrorist or to even call these warriors terrorist is to become one of the many who lack the intelligence to see a wider story. There is no difference in our behavior at this point. We as a nation have done terrible crimes and we are paying the fee for past transgressions and exploitive actions. To call one who protects his system with suicide bombers killing civilians - a terrorist, and the one who uses million dollar weapons systems killing civilians - not a terrorist, is the peak of inflexible bigotry.

I am so tired of the word terrorist. There are people who use violence to get there way or to defend their way of live.
We are one of those nations and we have more military might and weapons than all the countries combined.
If there is a leader in world terrorism it is the USA.

Terrorism: (definition) The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

WE VIEW OUR FORCE AS LAWFUL AND THIERS AS UNLAWFUL. But we are a terrorist nation.
The invasion of Iraq is the most recent act of terrorism.

It is a very un-evolved response and we require new leaders who will take us to another way of seeing and believing about conflict resolution.

As longs as nations have standing armies and weapons of mass destruction we will remain a weak and un-evolved people forever trapped in the cycle of vengeance and failed diplomacy.

This group is mainly trying to claim a Pollyanna world where the good values can prevail. History shows you do not have a clue. I will agree with a summary of the Mideast is much better than you will get in the media on any channel.

Pollyanna world of this group: the media and deep thinkers are pooh-poohing the terrorists and claiming victory for the good guys -- what bunk! for every little group that you get a line on -there are probably a hundred more that you will not discover until lives are lost --and then big brother will either step in and get real --or America will be bowing down to people you won't like a whole lot --and the worst scenario will be sucking up a lot of nuclear waste for the next 200 years. The politicians putting down the power of the NSA are morons -as I always said -you better pick leaders with integrity -because big brother is here, unless you want terrorists to be more sophisticated and educated than the US intelligence.

Rather than rephrase what I've already stated, I'll simply cut-and-paste from an earlier message:

"If you think heroic pacifism can't work in the real world, it already has - that's why India is no longer a British colony. And talk about a technological disparity! Britain had modern artillery and the Indians had... well, nothing."

That's what history shows us. As far as accusations of being a "Pollyanna", anyone who knows me would find that pretty amusing; if anything, my outlook tends to be a bit dark. That's why I say that, although global pacifism is the only solution, we're clearly too unevolved to ever even give it a shot. It takes remarkable spiritual and physical courage, and very few people have that. It's far easier to embrace violence as the legacy of our species and opt for quick, temporary solutions at the muzzle of a gun.
There are, on the other hand, countless examples in world history of the failures of violence to achieve a practical goal. One famous attempt to eliminate all opposition that comes to mind was the "final solution" to Germany's "Jewish problem" embraced by the National Socialists in the 1940's. Today, there are still many Jews, but very few National Socialists.
One final point: another word for "trying to claim a Pollyanna world where the good values can prevail" is "morality". If we're not trying to create a world where good values can prevail, what's the point of any of it?
