Super Target Vs. Wal-Mart Customer Service
I went to Super Target this morning and bought some hormone free chicken and meat along with some other healthier stuff. I do not plan on shopping at Wal-Mart again (at least this Wal-Mart near my house). I really got mad at them this morning when I went over there to get some potting soil so I could pot up a red bud baby tree and a baby crepe myrtle for my brother to plant in his yard. The garden center did not have any bags of the Wal-Mart brand (1.50 for 40#) but all kinds of the more expensive $10 a bag miracle grow. I like the Wal-Mart brand because it is usually pretty good. I asked where is your store brand? The employees all looked at me like I was stupid and just pointed me to the expensive brand. Well, after that pissed me off, I decided to confront the manager with the over-pricing of my Sauvé shampoo I usually get because it has went up by over 40 cents at this Wal-Mart compared to the Wal-Mart in Moore which has it at the regular old price. I took a bottle of the shampoo up to a so-called manager and advised them that they had it priced way too high over any other store and they looked at me like I was from outer space and said that all stores are different. I asked why did this particular product go up over 40 cents? They just stared with their mouths open and had the same response and they did not have any control over it. I said “don't you want to bring it to the attention of your manager so they can check it out?” and they just starred and acted annoyed that I brought up such a thing while the one lady looked like a Jehovah witness with her hair in a bun. Finally I stormed off and had to go over the Lowe’s to get my potting soil.
I do not plan on going back to the Norman Wal-Mart and will try and stay out of any of them unless I have to go for some reason. The door greeters at Wal-Mart are not friendly anymore and do not usually even say thank you. The food was much cleaner over at Super Target and everything seems a higher quality. They are also opening up a Costco next to the Target Supercenter but I have never been in a Costco. -Haley, Norman, OK Good for you for purchasing the hormone-free stuff. And double-good for you for speaking up about their bait and switch game, most people probably don't complain and they get away with it. If you follow up with a letter to Wal-Mart central, I bet the management of that store might get straightened out. Costco is like Sam's in that they have five pound cans of tuna and 50 gallons bottles of laundry detergent (okay, I'm exaggerating, but only a little) but they also have good produce (not organic, for the most part, but some hydroponically grown stuff and everything is SUPER-fresh), great seafood and bakery, very good toiletries, furniture, electronics and, occasionally, some pretty cool clothes. I've found a couple of things there for both of us that were great deals...if it doesn't fit, their return policy is quite liberal and easy to do. We love the Greek spinach pie and we go through a big bag of walnuts every three weeks or so. Also they have good quality prepared meals. When the Costco opens, they'll probably offer a free pass and you can check it out for yourself before deciding whether it works for you. They don't sell gas (some Costco locations anyway) but they do have a tire shop, liquor (at least here) and cigarettes about five bucks cheaper per carton than the grocery stores. In case the Bush regime stresses you out so much you take up smoking. Brenda, Key West
Hormone free beef is so much better for you. I am so glad that Target and the big chains are carrying more organic and healthier choices for not only us but the wider environment. Target has always been a better shopping experience for me. They are opening up a new super target next to me. Yes, Stay out of Wal-Mart. All these big massive stores get worse in customer service as they grow older. Home Depot used to have excellent service. No you go in and are left completely alone to wander the huge isles of endless stuff. These new automated check stands really show the future of customer service. -Derek, Cleveland, OH |
