Pelosi clears up plane accusations

My view on Senator Nancy Pelosi flying in government planes is that it was blown way out of context by the media.  This story, with Tony Snow, of all people, sort of defending Pelosi, kind of puts everything in context.  The Speaker of the House is supposed to fly military for security reasons and also for security reasons, supposed to fly non-stop. 

You can't fly non-stop to California on the plane Hastert

used.  Hastert didn't have to go to California. His district was in Illinois and an Air Force puddle jumper would have been enough.  To fly non-stop to California, you have to have the bigger plane.

The whole Pelosi plane thing had me going too, the right-wing did a great job of blowing it all out of proportion and context...no wonder Tony Snow was soft-pedaling, his work there was done.  Good for Pelosi for taking the bull by the horns and appearing on Fox to answer their accusations.

Yes, that's very depressing. I would hope that the Democrats would set an example. Besides, the Dems' hold on power is too tenuous to fool around...

On the other hand, speaking of spending...2.9 trillion? Not counting the Iraq expenditures, which are over $500 billion? Including the $12 billion IN CASH that was sent to Iraq and that someone...misplaced?  Makes that plane look like peanuts...
